Crucible Industrial Design is helping a pioneering biomedical company develop production processes for cartilage injuries and joint repair. Orthox Ltd are currently developing a range of products, including FibroFix, a meniscal repair product that uses the remarkable strength and tissue regenerative capacity of silk protein called Spidrex. Crucible are helping Orthox develop manufacturing processes for this new technology using Additive Layer Manufacturing (ALM) techniques. Initial work is focussing on ease of use and accuracy, whilst subsequent activities are expected to look at manufacturing replication.
