The product development process

Our approach to industrial design and product development is based on becoming a member of your team throughout the whole process of bringing your new product to the market.

This process starts with a meeting to discuss exactly what you need. This does not cost you anything and is based on our detailed Project Specification document (Download a copy here). This meeting will help us understand exactly what you need to do and the most appropriate way in which we can help you achieve your goals.

This will then be written up as a detailed proposal setting out exactly how we can help you, what work will be involved, how long it will take and how much it will cost. Again, this will not cost you anything.

If you choose to proceed with the project, we will begin work on the stages set out in the proposal (for more details of these stages, please look at our Services page). Each stage will be a separate cost centre to minimise your risks, and we will ensure that you and your team are happy with progress at each stage before any additional work is done.

At each stage, the costs charged will be as outlined in the proposal, unless additional work is asked for during the project. In this case, the additional costs will be agreed with you before they are invoiced. There will be no hidden charges and no unexpected bills.

Depending on your needs, we can help with appearance, function, graphics, packaging, manufacturing and engineering data. We have particular expertise in developing and building prototypes, and a wide range of manufacturing contacts in the UK, Europe and Asia.

If you require full engineering data for the product, we can supply CAD files and engineering drawings produced to BS8888.

Finally, on completion of the project and payment of all agreed fees, the intellectual property in the work we have developed will be entirely yours.

We hope this gives you a clear picture of our approach to working with you. If you have any remaining questions or would like to talk any of these points over, please call us on 01235 833785.
